Do I need an Anthropic API key to use the advisor?
No. The advisor works offline with no key at all — its reasoning is built into the file and it reads the transactions you have entered. A key is purely an upgrade: add one and the same panel asks live Claude instead.
If I add my API key, where does it go?
Into your browser's local storage on your machine. It is used to call Anthropic directly from your browser and is never sent to us or stored on any server we run.
What can I actually ask it?

Is this financial advice?
No. It is a tool that describes patterns in figures you entered yourself. It is not regulated financial advice and should not replace a professional when the stakes are real.

Where is my financial data kept?
In your browser's local storage under vfp_tx and vfp_budgets, on the one computer where you opened the file. Clearing site data or using incognito will erase it, so export to CSV if the history matters.
